The pair were found vacationing at a resort in Kauai, Hawaii on Sunday but the children are still nowhere to be found.Police have been looking for the mother and step-father, Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell, after local authorities found their Rexburg, Idaho, home empty when conducting a welfare check on Vallow's children.Although authorities believe 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and seven-year-old Joshua Vallow have not been seen since September, the couple never reported they were missing and Vallow refused to cooperate with local authorities."We know that the children are not with Lori and Chad Daybell, and we also have information indicating that Lori knows either the location of the children or what has happened to them," a statementfrom the Rexburg Police Department read. "Despite having this knowledge, she has refused to work with law enforcement to help us resolve this matter."However, the disappearance of Vallow's children are not the only questions swirling around the doomsday-obsessed couple. The pair are also entangled in a mystery regarding the deaths of Lori's first husband, Lori's brother, and Chad's first wife, who he reportedly prophesized would die, the Daily Beast reported.Lori, 46, and Chad, 51, married just weeks after the death of his wife Tammy, who died in the family's home at age 49. After Chad refused to order an autopsy, the coroner listed her death as "natural." However, authorities are now investigating her case as suspicious and her body was exhumed for an autopsy in December.Lori's previous husband Charles was fatally shot by her brother during a domestic disturbance that is now under investigation by local authorities. Lori's brother, Alexander Cox, was never charged and died on December 12 of unknown causes.Chad had penned a series of doomsday books for Mormon audiences and had spoken at several events hosted by Preparing a People, a multimedia company whose website says they "help prepare the people of this earth for the second coming of Jesus Christ." Lori's relatives had raised concerns about her association with Preparing a People for months, which they believed to be a "religious cult," the New York Post reported.Since locating the couple at a Hawaiian resort, a court has ordered Vallow to produce Josh and Tylee to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in Rexburg within five days. If Vallow fails to physically produce her children, she may be subjected to civil or criminal contempt of court, news station KSAZ reported.Read more:Inside the $250 'go bag' that a gun-toting survivalist keeps in his car, just in case the world endsInside the US military's $223 million 'doomsday plane,' capable of surviving a nuclear blast5 animals that could survive the apocalypse14 foods to keep in your bunker to survive the apocalypseJoin the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: Each year, the US gets around 4 times as many twisters as the rest of the world combined ' here's why
