Adamawa Strike: NLC to Shut Down Yola Airport, Banks

THE Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said that the Yola International Airport, all commercial banks and other private sectors would be shut down by the union next week, if Governor Murtala Nyako fail to sign the implementation of the N 18,000 minimum wage.While addressing NLC members on Thursday evening after the two days of intensive negotiation with the government collapsed, the National Secretary of NLC, Owei Lakenfa, said that the leadership of the union would be forced to shut down all private institutions and the airport next week if the governor did not honour the minimum wage law.The Chief scribe of NLC, who expressed disappointment with the government of Nyako over the non-implementation of the new minimum wage, said that the union could not fold its hands and watch government maltreat its members.He said that the governor requested for little time for him to study the financial implication of the new minimum wage on the state budget.The NLC Secretary who noted that Adamawa State has only 19,000 workers cannot claim that the state monthly allocation cannot pay the N 18,000 wage.
