FG to partner Germany on skills development

The Minister ofLabour andProductivity, Chief Emeka Wogu has reiterated that the Nigerian Government will continue to partner with the German government in the area of vocational skills development for economic growth and development.Chief Wogu was speaking when a delegation of the German Industry for Commerce and Industry met with the minister in Abuja.Receiving the envoy, Chief Wogu stated that Nigeria was conscious of the high level of unemployment among young school leavers and was ready to equip them with the pre-requisite skills which would enable them measure up with their counterparts anywhere in the world.According to a statement signed by the Assistant Director of Press in the ministry, Prince Samuel Olowookere, the minister assured the German delegation of governments total support and collaboration for the realisation of the objectives of their mission to Nigeria.The Minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Anthony Ozodinobi, stated that the Ministry of Labour and Productivity would do everything within its power to ensure that the proposals for collaboration were presented before the Federal Executive Council for consideration.He noted that proper education, combined with skills acquisition, were the factors most needed in our efforts to reduce unemployment  in  the  country.Mr. Ozodinobi, re-affirmed the willingness of the Ministry to collaborate with its German partners to ensure that the pilot programme worked.In his speech, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Andre Ronne, stated that the idea of seeking collaboration on skills development was to create a conducive environment for skilled acquisition amongst the young school leavers in Nigeria.
