April polls: Im ready for public debate -Amaechi

The Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has said he will be ready, with facts and figures, to face any public debate with any opposition candidate before April 3.The governor, who said this at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign rally, in Gokana Local Government Area of the state, at the weekend, said he would be facing the public with facts on what he has done and what he was left to do.At various fora, gubernatorial candidates of opposition parties, like Dr Abiye Sekibo of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), had challenged the governor and other aspirants to an open debate on their programme for the people of the state.But Amaechi, while speaking to a crowd of Ogoni people at the rally, said he would be ready to account for all his activities right from the day he assumed office, adding that those coming to be part of the debate should also be ready to tell the people how they used the offices they held in the past to better the state.They should come for a public debate. I am ready for the debate before April 2 and we will face the public and tell them the truth. Let us say how we will manage the resources that we have. That is what we need to do, Amaechi said.He called on the people to vote for Honourable Magnus Abe as the next senator representing Rivers South-East zone in the Senate, saying that the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) would do well at the National Assembly.
