A GARAND plot, allegedly hatched by some powerful northerners to cause disaffection between President Goodluck Jonathan and his Vice, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has been uncovered by a coalition of youth groups in the North, the Arewa Youth Forum (AYF)Disclosing this yesterday, the northern youths accused some prominent northern leaders of trying to sow a seed of discord by alleging that Sambo has an ambition to contest the 2015 Presidency.The AYF, therefore, cautioned that, 'unless those contending for the return of power to the region forget their ambition for now and join forces to see that the appropriate moves were made for growth and development in all parts of the North, the region would continue to remain backward throughout the current dispensation.'Besides, the AYF National President, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, told journalists yesterday, that Sambo was in Kaduna recently to preside over the meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Norwest zone but the aftermath of the meeting was carefully maneuvered by his antagonists in the region to cause political disharmony.According to Gujungu, 'it was true that youth groups in the North were at the venue of the meeting to show solidarity to the Federal Government and welcome Sambo home, but the statement credited to another group called Sambo Project left much to be desired.'The AYF condemned 'in strongest terms, mischievous attempts to misinform the world that Sambo had already kick-started his campaign for 2015 in Kaduna', stressing thatthe goal of President Jonathan and Sambo for now was to utilise the present tenure and push Nigeria to positive heights.The AYF leader said: 'Initially, there were alleged clandestine moves by some Northernpolitically powerful groups against the Presidency for 2015, but such moves were now very apparent through their advocacy activities and pronouncements.''We shall soon expose them. We wonder why the sudden u- turn that Sambo was perfecting plans to occupy the villa in 2015. We believe that such was the handiwork of his opponents who wanted to cause confusion in the polity. He has said it times without number that they are poised to restore electric power, revive industries and add value to the life of Nigerians. We should rally round them for Nigeria to be great.''We were in touch with the Sambo project, which was said to have mounted a campaign for the Vice President come 2015 during the PDP meeting in Kaduna.
