Communities in Amuwo-Odofin allege plan by NPA to take over their land

Crisis is looming in the riverine area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, as residents of the area are alleging that the management of Nigeria Port Authority (NPA)is threatening to take over their land.Community News learnt that about five communities would be affected by the planned take over of the land. The communities are Sagbokoji, Akopoawa, Canviekoji and Bishop Koji.A leader from Sagbokoji, John Mautin, told Community News that they only woke up one day and started noticing some people encroaching on their land.He explained thatfurther findings revealed that the people claimed they got the land from the NPA.The community leader also hinted that they have contacted the state governor over the matter, saying 'we have written the state governor and he immediately drafted the men from the Ministry of Rural Development to look into the matter, but we are yet to get any response from the government'The residents of the affected communities are calling on the state government to help them from being evicted.
