Mikel on the losing side as Obi helps Inter win

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas described Nigerias Mikel Obi as one of the world best midfielders while commenting on the progress of Oriol Romelu ahead of their game against QPR on Sunday.But Mikel ended on the losing side as QPR won a dramatic encounter 1-0. Chelsea lost Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa to red cards while Mikel got a yellow card.Yakubu Aiyegbeni failed to rescue Blackburn after coming on in the 70th minute for Mauro Formica as his side lost 2-1 to visiting Tottenham on Sunday. When Ayegbeni came on, he could only get a yellow card in the final moment of the match.But earlier on Saturday, Osaze Odemwingie was on for 90 minutes as his club West Brom beat Aston Villa in a Midlands derby. Osaze was involved in most of the defining moments and would have had a goal but he mis-kicked in front of goal.Wigan Athletics Victor Moses troubled Newcastle goalkeeper several times but it was the Magpies who rose to the occasion in the 81st minute with a strike from Yohan Cabaye when it seemed their visitors were getting a draw.Newcastles Shola Ameobi came on for Demba Ba in the 68th minute but the Nigerian failed to add to his single strike.Dickson Etuhus frustration continued at Fulham as he was over overlooked by coach Martin Jol in their 3-1 loss to Everton at home.In Germany, Ogbuke Obasi was on the bench when his side, TSG Hoffenheim beat Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0.After scoring for Borrusia Dortmund against Werder Bremen last weekend, Patrick Owomoyela was not listed by his coach as his side beat Cologne 5-0 to hold on to the second position on the table.Mainzs Anthony Ujah was not in the coachs plan when his side travelled to Hertha Berlin on Saturday. In his absence, Mainz got a draw as the Nigerian will now look forward to the next match against Werder Bremen on Saturday for his first goal of the season.In Italy, AC Milans Taye Taiwo was on the bench as Ghanaian Kelvin Boateng came off the bench to score thrice, as Milan came from 3-0 to beat Lecce 4-3 away from home.Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri could not find a place for his Nigerian midfielder Joel Obi when his side took on Chievo on Sunday. However, Obi was involved in the final stage, coming on for Mauro Zarate as Inter won 1-0.
