116 Nigerian athletes for Obudu race

Organisers of the Obudu International Mountain Race say 116 Nigerian athletes will take part in this years edition of the race which has over 200 athletes vying for honours from all over the world.This years race will comprise the individual race and the African Nations Mountain Running Championship. Organisers also said they are determined to host another successful event on November 28, 2011 when the seventh edition of the race holds at the Obudu Ranch Resort in Obudu, Cross River State.William Archibong, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the race, said logistics for a hitch-free competition had been put in place to make this years edition the best ever.Every logistics has been taken care of by the LOC for the race. Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State is happy with the progress we have made in the technical organisation of the race and the travel and accommodation arrangements of all the participants," Archibong said. The states Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ugbe, said Imoke was the driving force behind the successes recorded over the years by the LOC.Without doubt the tremendous backing we have received from the governor has galvanised us into organising what the President of World Mountain Running Association, Bruno Gozzelino, has called a perfect race so far," Ugbe said.
