Katsina library board gets marching order

The management of Katsina State Library Board has been given two weeks ultimatum to revive the ailing condition of the library for students and others to reap its benefit.The state Commissioner of Information, Culture and Home Affairs, Alhaji Sani Gide Batagarawa, handed down the directive when he paid an unscheduled visit to use it.Alhaji Gide Batagarawa, who noted that, the present condition of the library was not acceptable, charged the management to devise ways of encouraging people to imbibe the culture of reading.Similarly, he directed the library board management to commence the immediate use of its generating set at least for three hours daily to create a better conducive atmosphere for users.The commissioner also expressed dismay over the attitude of some workers of the board, who were not on their seat, warning that, government would not tolerate such truant attitude.He, therefore, directed the management to compile the names of those absent as appropriate action would be taken against them to serve as deterrent to others.Batagarawa further directed that the e-library constructed recently by the present administration be made to commence operations immediately for students and researchers from all over the state to benefit from it.The commissioner, however, maintained that government was looking into their problems with a view to solving them, especially in the areas of reading materials and other library equipment.Earlier, the executive director of the board, Alhaji Hassan Mohammed Tukur, enumerated some of the problems confronting the board's smooth operations and solicited the support of the commissioner in solving them.
