Rubbish dump operators dare Amosun

BARELY one week after Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State ordered the evacuation of the operators at a popular rubbish dump called Kurata at the canal end of the Onipanu community in Ota, Ogun State, the operators have returned to the site.Investigation revealed that the activities of the operators of the site were aided by some government officials and some landlords in the neighborhood.'The level of their activities has increased in intensity and vigour, thus exposing the residents of the communities' to grave health hazards', a landlord in the area revealed.It will be recalled that the residents of the 6 Joint CDAs- (Oloko Phase 1, Irewolede, Oloko Central, God's Favour, Salvation and Oladipupo) had called on the governor to ensure a permanent evacuation of the men from the site, thus relieving the residents of the current exposure to the fumes from the smelting of aluminum metals.Meanwhile, the secretary of the joint CDA in the area, in a statement, appeal to the state governor to do something urgently before the issue degenerated. "We are running out of patience, we are calling on the governor to do something urgent about the site because, information at our disposal revealed that the dump site operators are being aided by some government officials in the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government."
