We lack good roads at Irawo

Published by Tribune on Tue, 25 Oct 2011

RESIDENTS of Irawo Community in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State have called on the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to assist the people of the area by rehabilitating the roads in their community. They claimed that the state of the roads in the community was nothing to write home about and this they said, was affecting the speed of development in the area. They explained that the residents were usually cut off from the rest of the state by the poor nature of the roads, especially during rainy season.A residents, Alhaji Tairu Adebayo, lamented that the community leaders through the Community Development Association (CDA) had tried their best to convince the local government to rehabilitate the roads since most of the roads fall under it but nothing had come out of their agitation, hence they decided to call on state government.'When Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu created the Development Council Areas, they were meant to fast track development in local communities, but in our own case, we have not witnessed anything positive. We have tried to draw the attention of the people in the local council to our plight, but our efforts have not yielded any result. We are using this opportunity to call on state government to come to the aids of the people by fixing the roads in the area.'Most of the residents who spoke to Community News on the collapse of the roads in the area, lamented that despite the deplorable nature of the roads in the area, men of the State Board of Internal Revenue still come to disturb the residents for taxes and other levies. The roads that required attention in the area included Alafia, Calvary, Adebayo Ado streets. Others are Moyosore, Badeyo and Unity streets. The residents stated that they voted massively for Governor Fashola during the last general elections, hence it's time to pay the community back.
