Imo recovers N130m from fake pensioners

GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has disclosed that the government recovered N130 million from fake pensioners after verification and payment exercises conducted recently.Also, he has ordered that any public servant qualified to earn the approved N20,000 minimum wage must be at his or her office between 7.45 a.m and 8 a.m. daily. Commissioners were directed by the governor to generate revenue with which to pay workers in their ministry, adding that henceforth, civil and public servants must be paid on or before 25th of the month.Okorocha announced these yesterday at the premises of the State Secretariat, Port Harcourt road, Owerri while announcing to workers his approval to pay them N20,000 minimum wage with effect from April. He directed commissioners to pay higher salaries to workers if revenue improves.
