OLISEH: AFRICAN COUNTRIES ARE CHASING ME

Published by Nigerian Compass on Tue, 25 Oct 2011

FORMER Nigeria captain, Sunday Oliseh, has disclosed that not less than two African countries are chasing him to secure his services to handle their national teams for the 2012 Nations Cup scheduled for Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in January. He revealed: "I can tell you that two of the teams who have qualified for next year's Nations Cup are discussing with me to be their coach," Oliseh disclosed."I won't want to mention the teams because we are still discussing."This week, the former Juventus and Ajax Amsterdam star announced he wishes to be considered for the top coaching post of the Super Eagles after the team failed to qualify for the Nations Cup for the first time in 25 years.Oliseh also dismissed critics who question his coaching experience."I know of several national team coaches who do not have the coaching experience I have," he argued.Besides that, let anyone tell me the experience that Pep Guardiola had before he was named Barcelona coach."Oliseh has a UEFAPro licence and enjoyed a two-year working stint in Belgium, where he is now based with his family. He was first considered for the Eagles job three years ago.The 37-year-old ex-international most recently was locked in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with a view to be appointed the country's Technical Director but this fell through over disagreement on remuneration which he said was just too small for him to do the kind of job the Nigerian federation wanted him to do.
