Awurum: I wont act for anything less than worth

By Sam AnokamNollywood actor, Charles Awurum has revealed that he wont act for anything less than his worth as a veteran.In an exclusive chat with The Nation, Awurum noted that hes done quite some productions and has earned himself his worth in the industry, hence, he wont act if not paid his worth.He said, If you dont pay me what Im worth, I will not act. There is no need forming, everybody knows you and you dont have the money, he said.Continuing, the comic actor noted that some producers are the bane of some bad trends in the film industry. He also accused the producers of producing sub-standard films and setting unprofessional standards amongst up and coming actors.Awurum, however, lauded the Actors Guild of Nigeria president, Emeka Rollas for standing up to the challenge saying his actions are first of its kind in the guild.Read Also:Why I left Nollywood for firefighting jobLike what the Actors Guild President is doing now, if he carries on this way, things will surely change. This is the first time I am seeing anything like this.If nothing is done now to change the attitude of producers, things will spoil. You see actors going out to steal because they are not making money yet, they dont become that star. When you produce a sub-standard film it cannot sell, he said.With over two decades of experience, Awurum said he has done his best to help some up and coming acts.
