FORMER Nigeria international winger, Victor Ikpeba has backed his former teammate Daniel Amokachi for Nigeria national team, Super Eagles job.The 1994 and 1998 World Cup star expressed his feelings on Super Sport Monday Night Football Show, stating that Amokachi has what it takes to be the next coach for the Nigeria senior national team.'I am not being sentimental, Amokachi is qualified to handle the Eagles, he has the required coaching certificate, he won the 2010 WAFU Cup and he is very well-known in football''.Amokachi, Tribunesports recalls, was an assistant to Shuaibu Amodu at the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola.Meanwhile,ALTHOUGH the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to take a decision on the fate of Samson Siasia as Super Eagles' head coach, there is already drums of war among ex-internationals over the plum job.Siasia who has been under fire following his failure to lead the Eagles to pick a ticket to the 2012 Nations Cup will know his fate this week as the NFF board is expected to take a final decision on the issue. However, Ex-Eagles star Daniel Amokachi, wondered why Samson Siasia remains Eagles coach as at now just as he also questioned the handling of star players by his former teammate.''Falcons coach did not perform and she was sacked, so why are the NFF still leaving the coach who did not qualify Nigeria for the Nations Cup''' asked Amokachi, who has consistently queried Siasia's professionalism.''Nigeria needs a manager who can manage the players, not someone who keeps fighting with them.''This is in reference to Siasia's much-publicised rows with Osaze Odemwingie and Vincent Enyeama.Amokachi who has equally put himself forward for the Eagles top post also questioned the coaching experience of Sunday Oliseh who has also declared interest in the job.''He doesn't have the pedigree. He's just like Siasia. There is a difference between coaching under-age teams and the Super Eagles,'' argued Amokachi.
