Commissioner warns corps members against keeping late night in Kwara

Corps members serving in Kwara State have been warned against keeping late night to save them from danger posed by men of the underworld.The State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Anthony Towoju, gave this advice in his office while receiving the State Co-ordinator of the NYSC, Ezinne Ngozi Ezekwe.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the commissioner was responding to a complaint by the coordinator over a recent attack on two corps members in the state capital.Towoju said that keeping late nights would also expose the corps members to other avoidable risks.He said that the safety of inhabitants of the state viz-a-viz the security of lives and property was of topmost priority to the present administration.He enjoined the corps members to stop unnecessary outings, adding that when it was necessary they should move in groups to guard against any act that could jeopardise their safety.Earlier, the co-ordinator had complained that the two members were attacked by hoodlums at Fate Roundabout, Ilorin, recently, while returning from a Christian fellowship in the night.Ezekwe appealed to the state government to assist the scheme by releasing funds for its various outstanding projects.She said that lack of adequate funding had affected the execution of their programmes since her assumption of duty.In her remarks, the Director of Youth, Hajia Kikelomo Abdulkadir ,thanked the state government for its support and prayed to God to give the commissioner the wisdom to excel in the new assignment.
