JUKEBOX has issued a new album. The 2010 winners of Star Quest, entitled the collection, Hustle Go Pay. It is built around their popular song of the same title.The public launch took place at The Place, Ikeja, Lagos, penultimate Sunday, in a function stuffed with memorable performances and enthusiastic guests. The hall was filled with people who came to show solidarity with the young talented band. In the roll call were such key players n the showbiz industry as the duo of Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye of Kennis Music; Gbenga Adeyinka, De Don, Femi Adeyinka, Essence, Jaywon, Kenny Saint Brown, K Solo, the senior brand manager, Star, Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc., Mr. Sampson Oloche and past winners of Star Quest such as the 2009 winners, Diamonds and past Star Quest winner The Beat, among others. The crowd had even gathered well before the event's commencement.When the event eventually began, the audience had their hands full with entertainment. Stand-up comedian, De Don started the artistic end of the event. He dished out jokes and guests literally reeled on their seats in laughter as his performance lasted. Show host, Gbenga Adeyinka compounded matters with his own naughty whimsy cracks as the whole show went on on merry mood.When it was the turn of Jukebox to take the stage, the band comprising, Eghosa Frank, Joshua Itietie, Agunpopo Josephine Olamide, Wilson Emeka, Epanty Gregory and Asindi Sam waxed strongly in high mood. They were really a delight to watch on stage as they made engaging performances to the pleasure of a cheery audience. Their popular number, Hustle Go Pay, was well received. They also played another number, Run Your Own, as well as other songs in the album.Chief Executive Officer of Kennis Music, Mr Ogungbe, under whose label, the Jukebox album was released said the band is noteworthy for hard work and consistency as after winning the Star Quest talent hunt competition over one year ago, they still bonded and rehearsed together. 'Indeed, it has been a long journey for the individuals of the band and we are all just happy that their album is officially out today. They are not only talented. They are also hard working and consistent. And we commend them for that,' Ogungbe said.While announcing that the album is also made available for sale, digitally, through I-Tunes and other digital media, Ogungbe further promised that the record label would renew its contract with the group. 'We are so impressed with them that we are renewing their contract when this present one expires. We have so much confidence in this band and we know that they will never disappoint us,' hestated.Also speaking during the event was Oloche who revealed what the Star Quest contest which his employers NB Plc. sponsors yearly, is all about, while commending the band for the launch of their debut album. 'Every year we produce new winners at the Star Quest talent hunt. Jukebox was the winner in last year's edition so this is their album launch. Of course, Star, as a responsible brand, will always keep to its promise of giving each member of the band, N600,000, a brand new car for the band as well as recording contract worth N7.5 million naira. Today, is the manifestation of that promise,' Oloche said.Oloche also expressed delight that Kennis Music was renewing its contract with the band. His words: 'Though we facilitated this contract, we are equally delighted that Kennis Music is renewing the contract. For us, it is a sign that these youngsters are as talented as we all know. And we wish them the best,' he said.The band's keyboardist, Gregory, expressed their appreciation to the organisers of Star Quest for giving them the career break and a conspicuous platform to showcase their hitherto unpublicised talents. 'The first thing is that we can't forget Star for organising Star Quest. The Star Quest musical competition was the platform for us to shine individually and to display our talent as a group. Without Star Quest, there won't be Jukebox in the first place. So we say thank you to Star for Star Quest.'We are also grateful to Kennis Music. It is unbelievable that they have been helping us nurture our talents. The label has also promised to renew our contract with them and that is terrific news for us. We just thank God for the opportunity. Of course, we can't forget the support of our numerous fans who have stood by us through this one year,' he said.
