Pig farmers see hope in Oyo business outlook

The Oyo State branch of Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria has expressed optimism in the development of pig farming by the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.PFAN Chairman, Mr. Victor Akinrelere, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan that from the governors pronouncements so far, the administration was serious about agricultural development."We believe that by the time the government comes out with a solid master plan on agriculture, farmers, including pig farmers, will smile," Akinrelere said."Even the Presidency has seen the need for Nigeria to go back to agriculture and till the land. After all, that was the first occupation of our forefathers."He said that the announcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria that it was pegging lending rate at a single digit would also go a long way in making funds available to farmers and PFAN members."And if that is true, it means even the farmers can access credit. Those producing fish and rice can not eat everything, they will need meat as well, as such they will patronise us at PFAN. So, all hands must be on deck."He noted that farmers in Oyo State were becoming more formidable and well organised.
