Word War II' begins in Lagos

The second Scrabbulympics tournament tagged Word War II begins on Friday (today) at the Nigerian Union of Teachers Pavilion, Ikeja, Lagos. The scrabble tourney is organised by Fryda Nigeria Limited.MD Fryda Nigeria Limited, Dare Alao, said the term Scrabbulympics was coined from the fusion of the words scrabble and Olympics. "The game is uniquely positioned as a developmental tool targeted at character building, intellectual stimulation and development of analytical skills in youths from their teenage years, Alao said.Over 100 secondary schools from Lagos State have confirmed their participation in the eight-day competition. Alao said participating schools have surpassed entries at the inaugural edition held last year. The preliminary rounds of the tournament will hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere,Lagos. The final will hold at Lagos Television, Ikeja, Lagos on November 4.
