Foundation donates N1.2bn books to Poly

TheSir Emeka Offor Foundation on Thursday said the Federal Polytechnic, Oko will be a major beneficiary of next consignment of books to be imported by the foundation.The Foundations Liaison Officer, Mr. Inno Anoliefo, during the inspection of facilities in the institutions library in Oko, said the body in conjunction with Books for Africa had donated three tons of books and N10m to the Federal Polytechnic, Oko to revive its library.Anoliefo said, I remember when we came here a couple of months ago, this library was like a ghost of itself but I am surprised at the level of transformation today. I will say the money was well utilised.We are so impressed with the way the money and books were used. Already, the institution this time will be a major beneficiary of another consignment which we will start packaging in two weeks time, to the tune of $7m.The Executive Director, Books for Africa, based in Atlanta, the United States, Dr. Patrick Plonski, was impressed with the quality of education and level of interest expressed by the management of the institution in improving the reading culture of students, adding that library was key to any academic environment.
