Imam admonishes relgious leaders on peace, stability

THE Chief Imam of Olomi Community Central Mosque, Olomi Olojuoro road, Ibadan, Alhaji Mudasiru Sulaimon Otiko, has called on religious leaders across the country to be steadfast in their prayers for peace, stability and peaceful co-existence of the country.Alhaji Otiko, who made the call while speaking at the turbaning ceremony of 13 newly installed Muslim title holders at Olomi and its environs, opined that 'Nigeria needs prayers to overcome its socio-economic and political challenges.'While commending the new title holders for their contributions to the development of Olomi Community Central Mosque and for the propagation of Islam, the Chief Imam charged those honoured to embrace the fear of Allah by abstaining from vices which were against the injuction of the Holy Qu'ran.He equally charged them to accord priority to the observation of the five daily prayers as well as to be their brothers keepers at all time saying that 'they should see themselves as ambassadors of Islam by shunning vices and all other forms of unacceptable behaviour in the society.Alhaji Otiko prayed for long life and divine wisdom for the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and the continued success of all the awardees.Earlier in his lecture, Sheik Ismaheel Hoseni Gbamolada called on all adherents of Islam to live an exemplary life worthy of emulation by others. 'We should be role models to adherents of other faith and not believers he said.Those honoured on the occasion included Alhaja Sikiratu Akinloye, Alhaja Risikatu Lasisi, Alhaja Risikatu Akinwale, Alhaja Aolatu Ajisope and Alhaja A.O. Olowoniokure. Others were Alhaja Silifatu Raimi, Alhaja Rukayatu Awere, Alhaja Muyibatu Gasali, Alhaja Musili Opasanya, Alhaja Asiwawu Amoo, Alhaji (Chief) Isiaka Olaiya and Alhaja Falilatu Bukola.
