General Motors, DMT Toilet seal truck partnership

REPRESENTATIVES of General Motors Nigeria and DMT Toilet have sealed a business plan aimed at facilitating the expansion of DMT to other parts of the country.Under the arrangement, General Motors explained that it had put in placesufficient after-sale facilities that would keep the vehicles in proper shape at all times.Already, it has delivered the first set of 10 out of the total 100 vehicles to the human waste evacuating firm in Lagos.The Managing Director, GM Nigeria, Mr. Anthony Areyanka, explained during a ceremony held at the premises of DMT Toilet, that the vehicles were locally assembled.Areyanka explained thateach of the truck was equipped with a device to separate water from solid waste.He disclosed that it was the first time the auto firm would be offering that type of vehicle.The Chairman of the company, Mr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, said that Skye Bank was financing the truck supply project, pointing out that the delivery of the trucks was 'a major step forward for us as a company.'He said that the dreamof the company was to make DMT Toilet a global firm.In his submission, the Managing Director, DMT Toilet, Mr. Isaac Durojaiye (Otunba Gadaffi), said that the company was investing in the new trucks in order to change the face of the industry.According to him, the fact that the company was investing N17million in each of the trucks was an indication of its commitment to the business.Explaining the choice ofIzuzu trucks, he said: 'It is a brand well known in Nigeria. The company employs thousands of people, and we want to keep them in business.He added: 'Besides, we should stop this idea of capital flight. We need to develop our own technology.
