Published by Tribune on Sat, 01 Nov 2014

The Christian community in Nigeria gathered in Lagos on Friday, to bid late Reverend Samuel Akinbode Sadela farewell, as his remains were committed to mother- earth.Late Sadela, who was the founder of Gospel Apostolic Church worldwide and regarded as the Guinness Book of Record's oldest man on the pulpit, died on August 24, 2014, at the age of 114 years. The funeral service which took place at the Police College, Ikeja, saw renowned ministers of God which included, the founder of Winners Chapel International, Bishop David Oyedepo and his wife, Faith; Evangelist Ayewa Adelakun, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey and many others in attendance.Delivering the funeral sermon, entitled 'Old Age Is Good', Bishop Oyedepo noted that as stipulated for Abraham in Genesis chapter 15 verse 15 , the plan of God for His people was to live long in good old age. Also speaking about the life and times of Pa. Sadela, Pastor Sam Olisa, Rector, Gospel Apostolic Church Bible College, disclosed that the late clergy would have studied Law, having passed Cambridge and matriculation examination of Woolshall College, London through correspondence but for the divine instruction of the Late Apostle Ayodele Babalola, the General Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, who said it was the vineyard that God wanted the late Pa Sadela to work.Olisa added that the late Reverend heeded the divine instruction of God by jettisoning his academic pursuit for God's work committedly and conscientiously under the tutelage of Apostle Babalola. 'They ate together in the same plate, slept together on the same bed, trekked together and travelled together in Babalola's car which he bought in 1948,' he said.
