Lagos FA Plots Grassroots Football Revival

LAGOS State will in the near future regain its status as the football capital of Nigeria, the chairman of the state's Football Association (LSFA), Seyi Akinwunmi, has promised.Speaking on Thursday while presenting the current LSFA's scorecard and vision for the game to Lagos State football stakeholders, Akinwunmi said his association has mapped out plans to involve the private sector in the development of the game, including building stadia in all the areas of the state, as well as setting up other structures that would ensure that it tapped from the enormous talents in the state.He revealed that part of the startegy in the revival plan is to make the game entertaining and rewarding to families to ensure that parents support their wards to harness their talents, adding that it would also start a Super League for budding talents in the state.Already, the new league, Akinwunmi said, has received the approval of the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and its operation will not conflict with the Nigeria Premier League.
