In LA, lockdown chaos, airline staff dressed as cheerleaders, and civil rights speeches blaring

Strange times in Los Angeles, where I'm marooned running the co-working space Second Home. The mayor had been easing restrictions ' and we reopened our campus in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the rules in California about whether cities can reopen is based on the number of Covid cases, not on hospital capacity. As Covid is highly contagious, it's inevitable that the virus will spread as things open, which triggers a new lockdown. Just this week, recently reopened restaurants have been forced to shut again, which is even more damaging for small businesses than staying closed, because they have to rehire staff and buy supplies.Unless California changes its rules, LA is going to be stuck in a pattern of opening and closing for a long time. With one in five Angelenos already out of work, the financial impact is going to be horrendous. What a mess.
