It was some few minutes to 8am of Friday,12 August, Ummi Ya'u, eight, was holding a dirty looking woven sack and heading towards the Farin Gada Market where perishable items such as vegetables are sold. She could easily be mistaken for a little girl on an errand for her parents to buy some things from the market. But Ummi was merely on a daily routine to the market since the commencement of the Ramadan; to scavenge for discarded perishable items to use in preparing their meals.
