Aspirants oppose delegates list

By Emmanuel Oladesu Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants in Ondo State on Monday rejected the delegates list for the primaries scheduled for next Saturday in Akure.They said it may have been doctored.The list was rejected by the Clement Faboyede-led Caretaker Committee, party elders and seven governorship aspirants, who alleged that 101 names of fake delegates were detected.Speaking before a three-man probe panel headed by a former governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, Faboyede said he was ambushed by the secretary of the ward delegates screening committee.Read Also:We are not rogues, Ondo APC delegates tell aspirantsHe presented the list to our committee without allowing me to vet it and I think this is not right, Faboyede said.He denied complicity in the controversial list.However, at yesterdays sitting of the Dankwambo-led panel, Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, who is a governorship aspirant, was absent.Other aspirants, including Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Banji Okunomo and Dr. Eddy Olafeso were at the meeting.Okunomo told reporters after the verification that one of the aspirants was the brain behind the doctoring of the delegates list.This aspirant is trying to destabilise the party. He should be suspended immediately; as we cant move on with such a character.In addition, the aspirant should be disqualified from contesting in the primary because he will be a bad influence in a party that cherishes good name and integrity.The Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation hailed the leadership of the party at the national and state levels, for not allowing any negative influence in the run-up to the governorship primary election.
