Kipsang runs second fastest marathon

WilsonKipsang of Kenya has run the second fastest marathon in winning the Frankfurt race on Sunday, missing the world record by a mere four seconds.Kipsang won the Frankfurt Marathon for the second straight year in two hours, three minutes and 42 seconds, barely missing the world mark in mild weather and nearly perfect conditions.Patrick Makau of Kenya won the Berlin Marathon one month ago with a world-record time of 2:03:38.Levy Matebo was second (2:05:16) and Albert Matebor third (2:05:25). Kipsang held the previous course record, set last year at 2:04:57.The only non-Kenyan among the top finishers was Siraj Gena of Ethiopia in eighth.Mamitu Daska won the womens race in 2:21:59, a personal best for the Ethiopian by more than 2 minutes and a course record.
