Ogun Ex-LG boss faults Daniel's injunction against panel

Published by Punch on Mon, 31 Oct 2011

The Deputy Governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State in the April election, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye, on Sunday said the injunction got by former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, against the State Truth Commission showed that the ex-governor had something to hide.In a statement, Oladunjoye said he knew Daniel would not wait for the commission to expose him.Oladunjoye said, I am not surprised at all; it is true to Daniels character. Having failed to lobby members of the Truth Commission whom he initially patronised with praises, he went to court. I have been vindicated; Daniels cupboards are full to the brim with skeletons. He added that he intended to file 12 petitions against Daniel at the Truth Commission. He said, I submitted three last week: One on the violent visit of Mrs. Funke Daniel to my house on July 24, 2010.My brutalised assistant has submitted one and I also submitted another one on behalf of the victimised people of Ijebu Ife, whose relatives were killed and maimed and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed for which no compesation has been paid. The petition on Ijebu Ife was backed with video evidence.Oladunjoye urged Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun to abide by the ruling, saying it was a temporary setback. He said, The governor should not behave like Daniel who refused to obey the December 31, 2009 order of the Abuja Federal High Court against the Somolu Panel, which restrained him from dissolving my elected local government administration in Ijebu East.It is ironical that Daniel, who praised the integrity of panel members and volunteered to appear before the Truth Commission, later went to secure injunction against the same commission. He can only delay, he cannot evade his date with justice.
