National president steps into Lagos NURTW crisis

It was commendationgalore for the NationalPresident of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Najeem Yasin, for finding lasting solution to the leadership problem facing the Lagos State council of the union.Members, at an inaugural meeting in Lagos, took turn to praise the president for setting up a seven-man committee to steer the affairs of the council.Members of the committee headed by Comrade Akin James, stated that the committee has decided to speak with one voice and to represent the interest of the national headquarters of the council who appointed them.Comrade Akin James told members to feel free to express their grievances to state council, adding that justice would be done to all cases brought before it.He also told members to embrace peace and harmony, stressing that the committee would only achieve progress if there was peace.He also enjoined members to always pay their dues to the state council so as to keep the affairs and activities of the council running. "We are a trade union organisation, we need money to run state council and your cooperation in that regard would go a long way to sustain the peace,' he stated.Comrade James told members that the setting up of the committee by the national headquarters had put an end to various factions that existed before. "We are now one, no more factions. It is now illegal for anybody to call any group meetings.
