Published by Tribune on Mon, 31 Oct 2011

Residents of somestreets in Somoluarea of Lagos State, have called on the state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to help the community by fixing some of the bad roads in the area. When Community News visited the area last week, residents of Olorunsogo, Adewuyi Opanubi and Rufai streets lamented poor state of the roads in the area. They, however, appealed to the governor to help upgrade the roads in the area to make them motorable. The residents complained that they paid fortunes on transportation fares due to the poor state of the roads. 'We always encounter problem especially, when it rains,' stressing that okada riders always resisted going to the areas. 'Even, those residents that are mobile are always afraid of taking out their cars because of the bad state of the roads.'A resident, Pastor Tunde Ikuseke, told Community News that, 'we are yet to feel the impact of Governor Fashola in our area. We are also part of Lagos . The state governor should come and see thing by himself. This is a big minus to the beautiful jobs the governor is doing in other places. We also pay our taxes and other levies, so we should not be denied dividends of democracy. We want our roads fixed.'s at present, many roads are in bad state and something must be dome to fix them now.'Again, when fixing the roads, the government must construct drainage and water channels to ensure free flow of water so as to prevent erosion,' he emphasised.
