Jonathan woos foreign, local investors to African potentials

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has urged both local and foreign investors to look the way of Africa and explore all available potentials in Africa while making their investment decisions.He gave this advice at the Commonwealth Business Forum, organised by Commonwealth Business Council (CBC), in partnership with Access Bank Plc held in Perth, Australia.The programme themed: 'Partnering for Global Growth: The Commonwealth, Indian Ocean and the Pacific Rim', examined avenues for enhancing new global economic partnerships for trade and investment in key sectors across the Commonwealth and beyond.The event had in attendance 54 heads of states and over 1000 business leaders from across the globe. Notable among the heads of states in attendance are President Goodluck Jonathan, Julia Gillard, prime minister Australia, Armando Guebuza, president Mozambique, Hifikepunye Pohamba, president Namibia amongst others.In his address at the occasion, President Good luck Jonathan urged investors to look the way of Africa in making their investment decisions. Speaking on the topic' Unleashing Africa's potentials: A new vision', the president said, 'this time is different for Africa.' He stressed the need for commonwealth nations to take to take advantage of clement economic advantage in Nigeria to the optimum, promising investors that returns in Africa would surpass anywhere else in the world.'With over 160 million Nigerians, Nigeria is every investor's delight. 'We will turn the innovative energy of youths into a positive economic force,' the president assured.Access Bank's Group Managing Director, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, in his vote of thanks lauded the Commonwealth Business Council for its exceptional commitment to fostering business growth among Commonwealth nations in the last 10 years.He also commended the co-Chairs of the organisation, Dr. Pascal Dozie and Mr. Allan Fields for their visionary leadership.Aigboje described leadership of Jonathan and Paul Kagame as examples of good governance in Africa, acknowledging them as growth engines for the continent.Access Bank's sponsorship of the event is aimed at facilitating collaboration among the critical stakeholders across the globe on new global economic partnerships for trade and investment in key sectors across the Commonwealth and beyond.
