NigComSat1R to bridge gap in digital broadcasting

Theprospects of direct-to-home local platform and the need to join digital broadcasting will be a major advantage of Nigerias replacement satellite, NigComSat1R, when it is launched in December.Migration of broadcast media to High Definition digital platform is expected to be addressed by the satellite.These and related issues will be explained next month when the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited hosts a three-day stakeholders conference in Lagos, according to a statement from the company on Monday.The conference, which is the second in the series of road shows lined up to address salient issues in the soon to be launched satellite, is tagged, Pre-launch Marketing Sensitisation for NigComSat1R.The forum, according to the statement, will enable officials of the company to throw more light on the satellite, which has since been moved to its launch site in China.Team leader for the conference, Mr. Bala Mohammed, was quoted as saying that the events were slated to run from November 21 to November 23 in Lagos, and would address all the issues involved with the satellite.
