PDP not moved by members' defection

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday said the defection of its members to the rival Action Congress of Nigeria would not affect the fortunes of the party in the state.The PDP also said the ACN had no chance of springing a surprise in the forthcoming local government and governorship elections in the state.The acting Chairman of the party, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, said in Akure that the ACN in the state comprised many strange bed-fellows forced into the same party by greed and inordinate ambition.Alabi said only the PDP could stop the ruling Labour Party in the state.Two former commissioners for Finance in the state, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, and Mr Segun Ojo, defected from the PDP to the ACN recently.Some former members of the state House of Assembly, including Mr. Thompson Atikase, former local government chairmen, Messrs Tolu Babaleye and Ojo Victor have also joined the ACN.Alabi said, The ACN is the coming together of strange fellows because they were not together before they just heard that people are shouting ACN so let us rush to the ACN.
