EFCC probe of TA Orji, son: Group backs APGAs treasurer

Published by The Nation on Sun, 09 Aug 2020

A group, Concerned Abians for Justice (CAJ), has expressed support to the recent call by the Acting National Treasurer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Smart Iheoma, for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to continue its probe of and to immediately arraign in court the former Abia State Governor, Senator TA Orji and his son, Hon Chinedu Orji, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, to enable them defend themselves over allegations of mindless looting of Abia State resources. In a press release made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State capital and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Akubueze Onuigbo, the group said the APGA chieftain reiterated what the group has been advocating for when it put up an advertorial in national dailies some time ago listing these same properties the EFCC recently marked for investigation in the state.READ ALSO:APGA chief to EFCC: Dont kill TA Orji and sons corruption caseThe group said failure to investigate the allegations against the former governor and his son, the current Speaker, and all the officials and individuals associated with the alleged looting of Abia States resources will make mockery of President Muhammadu Buharis anti-corruption war.Onuigbo, in the groups release, frowned at what he called the diversionary anti-Igbos witch-hunt for 2023 allegation, which some faceless defenders of the former governors administration are sponsoring in the media and called on them to save their defense until the matter gets to court. CAJ rather than wiping up ethnic/tribal sentiments stressing that both Abians and indeed, the international community, are waiting to see what becomes of the allegation of mindless looting of a peoples commonwealth.
