FORMER Edo State Commissioner for Sports, Brown Ebewele has clamoured for the appointment of Keshi as the next Super Eagles handler."We must not go outside this country to look for another coach. I prefer Keshi as head coach and Sunday Oliseh to assist him, I think these ex-internationals have what it takes to lead Nigerian football to the promised land," Jujuman as he is fondly called remarked. He also supported the sack of Samson Siasia saying he ought to have bowed out honourably in the first instance."It's a shame that Siasia wants to remain in the national team. If a coach that was given the mandate to lead Nigeria to the semi-final of the Nations Cup and at the end of it all, he could not even qualify for the competition, nobody should even tell him to go before he leaves," Ebewele stated.Meanwhile,STEPHEN Keshi and the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), President Aminu Maigari have differed on whether both parties have opened talks on the vacant Nigeria coaching position.Keshi was quoted as saying that he had spoken to NFF President about the job."Yes, I have been in talks with the President of the Federation and as a professional, I will embrace the challenge as I want to give my best to salvage the current situation."So if they ask me to take the job, I will do just that but that has not been concluded yet."But Maigari told KickOffNigeria.com on Monday that that was not the case."The last time I spoke to Keshi was when he came for that interview before the job was given to Samson Siasia," the NFF President said."We have given the job of recommending a coach to the Technical Committee and I cannot go behind their backs to start talking to a coach."When they have looked at the options and made their recommendation, we can start looking at talking to those people.' Maigari said."But for now, I can tell you that I have not spoken to Keshi."Former Eagles captain Keshi has emerged as the front-runner for the post after Samson Siasia was dismissed by the NFF last Friday for failing to qualify for the African Nations Cup.A new coach is expected to be named on Wednesday, either on a full time or interim capacity.
