Eguavoen meets NFF today on European trip

OLYMPICS Eagles Coach, Austin Eguavoen, is expected to meet with the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) technical committee to present the report of his visit to European clubs, and also make arrangements for the final phase of camping ahead the forthcoming African U-23 Championship.Eguavoen traveled to Europe last week to discuss with club managers to convince their sporting directors on the importance of the CAF U-23 Championship to the country. He returned to Nigeria on Friday.The NFF board is on Wednesday expected to release it programme for the eight-nation championship, in which the country is placed in Group A alongside host, Morocco, Algeria and Senegal.The Olympics Eagles will open the competition with a game against Morocco on November 26.Meanwhile, Eguavoen has invited Asec Mimosas of Abidjan striker, Kayode Olarenwaju, and Ahly Shendi of Sudan star, Francis Ikechukwu, to the Olympics Eagles camp.Ikechukwu was expected to arrive in the Genesis Hotel camp of the team yesterday.Kayode, who was one of the stars of the Flying Eagles at the just concluded U-20 World Cup in Colombia, is the fifth player to be invited from the Junior World Cup.The others, goalkeeper Dami Paul, and Mbah Chimezie have both been decamped from the team, while Egbedi Edafe has not reported to camp due to his test period with a Danish club.Enyimba's Emmanuel Anyanwu is the fifth player from the Flying Eagles in the camp.Eguavoen two weeks ago decamped six players, including Enyimba's Josiah Maduabuchi and Monday Osagie, from the camp. The other players decamped areDolphins' Festus Austin, Kano Pillars' Shehu Shagari, Oliha Aigbe and Wisdom Wisdom.The team is expected to begin a European training tour as soon as the NFF concludes the arrangement.
