Chinese eye agric, ICT sectors in Edo

CHINA's Consul-General to Nigeria, Mr. Guo Kun, has said that his country was ready to collaborate with Edo State government to establish several firms in the Agriculture and Information and Communications Technology sectors of the state.Kun disclosed that China could also set up a technology village in the state.Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at the Government House in Benin City at the weekend, the Consul-General said with its natural endowment and climatic condition, Edo has a bright future.According to him, Edo State is attractive to the Chinese people also because of its rubber, bamboo and palm potential, which are prominent industries in China.Kun said: 'We are amazed at the beautiful land which is fertile. We want to establish a close relationship in agriculture and ICT'.He observed that Edo State could be one of the richest states in the country with its rubber plantation alone.In his response, Oshiomhole said: 'We will give you all the support. Time is not on our side and immediately, we will set up a group to deepen the conversation'.
