Bayern ready for Napoli

Published by Punch on Wed, 02 Nov 2011

Bayern Munich want to make the most of their impressive home strength on Wednesday and take a big step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League with victory against Napoli.Munich have won the last eight competitive games in the Allianz Arena, scoring 33 goals in the process and conceding none.Victories include a 7-0 drubbing of Freiburg, 6-0 in the cup over Ingolstadt, 5-0 against Hamburg, 4-0 against Nuremberg and 3-0 against last seasons runners-up Bayer Leverkusen.Premier League leaders Manchester City were brought down to earth 2-0 in the so far only Champions League game in Bavaria, and Bayern will have the same in mind against Napoli on Wednesday and Villarreal on November 22.Were winning most of our matches, and playing excellent football too. Everyone at the clubs enjoying that, not just the players, but also everyone who gets to watch, midfielder Toni Kroos told the club website. It looks easy right now, especially at the Allianz Arena. Were always fired up for every match, and were frequently scoring an early goal at the moment.Thats why its been easier recently, especially at home, and thats why were seeing some big wins.Munich command group A with seven points ahead of Napoli (five) as they eye the knockout stages of a tournament which culminates in the May 2012 final in the Allianz Arena.Wed be as good as through with 10 points, as wed have improved upon our already good going-in position, so thats obviously the target, Kroos said. The 21-year-old scored in Munichs 1-1 draw in Naples last month where not everything went Munichs way, with Mario Gomez failing to convert a penalty and Holger Badstuber scoring an own goal.No wonder Kroos is taking nothing for granted as the two sides meet again.Napoli are a big and strong club, very hard to play against, full of running and fighting spirit, he said.
