Raping the aged: What's the attraction

Published by Tribune on Wed, 02 Nov 2011

Of recent, cases of male youths sexually assaulting old women have been on the increase. It sounds incredible, thus, Akano Rosemary and Folorunsho Tobi Hajarat sought the youths' opinion on the matter. Their report.OLADIMEJI, Ayobami Hammed, accountant:So many things could lead to raping the aged as the society we are in is a ritualist one where people believe in fetish things for ritual purposes. Basically, there is definitely no attraction between a young man and an aged woman as such a man would prefer to rape a young lady and not an old woman while in another sense, an aged man can rape a young lady, people who engage in this shameful act do so for ritual purpose when they intend to hold a political post or for money ritual. This can also happen as a result of the fact that some aged women use the young men to satisfy their sexual urge, And when these young men find no one to calm their urge sometimes, they could indulge in such an abominable act.Rita Odafe Ofaro, a 400 level Law student , University of Ibadan: My mind is indeed blank. I find it incredible that a sane man would commit such an act; raping an aged woman! The only reason I can give to such an atrocity is for ritual purposes and an extreme sexual starvation, it is a man who has a very low standard and has been sexually deprived that would settle for an aged woman. Sometime ago, I heard that some of these aged women encouraged such an act due to their long wait for sexual intercourse. This may be the attraction to the aged women to lesser resistance and the possibility of them reporting the case is indeed low.Wahab, Mojirayo Aishat, a 200 level student of Statistics, University of Ibadan: Raping of the aged should merit more attention because it is a violent crime. It follows a scenario whereby a young man forcibly enters an aged woman's house, threatens her, steals her property, violently rapes her and dumps her in a place where her relatives would not be able to find her.Awolola Oluwatosin Boniface,, civil servant: Raping is a sin against God and generally unacceptable even to the government of Nigeria. According to the 2006 population census, females are more than males. Many youths today find it interesting to rape old women, some even go to the level of dating women or madams otherwise called sugar mummy. To date sugar mummy for financial assistance. While some rape for spiritual purpose. Most of these abominable acts occur in our society today due to unemployment. government in particular, is to do something on the issue of unemployment, in order to reduce different crimes committed by the youth and anybody caught in the act of raping old women and young ladies or little girls should face the consequence.Ayoade Ajibade, a civil servantFor me, I don't think there's any attraction. It's total madness, those who are involved do so majorly for ritual purpose. Others, probably because they don't have opportunity with young ladies and they really want to satisfy their sexual urge.Arojojoye Damola:, Lecturer, Osun State College of Technology:I think it's madness, no attraction, it may be due to hard drugs effect or fro money ritual power and other factors.Akano Tomi Patience, 200 level, International Relations Student, EPSU cite vie Nouvelle Republic of Benin: I believe there is no attraction because what will attract one to white grey hair, a bent back and rod in the hand' So, it is definitely known that, those involved in raping the aged have been given a reprobate mind to do what is not easy, they are indeed incarnate of hell being blind folded by the devil, their master, to do what is immoral.Though it can't be too funny hearing that somebody is raping an aged, if we can hear that people are already making love with animals, now tell me, can't someone having sex with animal rape an aged' They can even rape their mother or father, even their children. In another way, people involved in raping the aged to satisfy their sexual desire do so because they know that the aged are powerless, with no energy to struggle with them, they can't shout during the process and they have no ability to call for court case to sue the perpetrators, who, thus, find it easier to sleep with aged mothers than going for young ladies.More so, some youths rape the aged due to lust of the flash. Also, it may be due to search for the riches of this world as a result of instructions given to them by witch-doctors. Therefore, those involved in raping the aged should indeed repent and go for thorough deliverance if they don't want to be doomed.Adeyemo Afolabi Victor (Youth Corps Member) Bayelsa State School of Nursing Tombia, Yenagoa:There is no pleasure derived in raping the aged, but I can say, it is either for ritual purpose or misuse of opportunity in the case of an aged woman lying idle.Meanwhile, there are young ladies one can easily have fun with (sex), because, looking for someone to have sex with is not difficult at all, even if young ladies deny you of sex, you can easily go to the hotel and pick any available prostitute and satisfy your sexual urge. But in most cases, those who choose to make love with the aged use it for other things like money ritual, security, political power etc, not just to satisfy their sexual urge.I will advise that everybody should take good care of their aged because rape is now another means discovered by those who don't have the fear of God in making ritual money and lots more.Abdul-Hameed Adesokan, Student, UNAAB:Well, I thank God for the religion I find myself in. I am a practising Muslim and this gives me the opportunity to know the truth of Islam day by day. I mean knowing the do's and the don'ts.Therefore, we don't need to stress ourselves on the matter of raping the aged, because, those fellows found in such act are heartless and they don't think of what tomorrow will bring for them and its repercussions. Many of them use any means to find power, money and wealth of this life which will end one day, that is what will prompt a man to rape an aged woman, not even knowing that, all they have acquired may vanish while they are still alive. The best advice for all parents and parents- to-be, who know much about this life, is to teach their children the word of God from their childhood till they grow up and by so doing they will not depart from it.
