Bode George, Koshoedo lead protest against Lagos LG polls

FORMER vice chairman of the PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP), South-West, Chief Olabode George and the Lagos State chairman of the party, Mr Setonji Koshoedo, on Tuesday, led thousands of the party faithful in peaceful protest against the alleged manipulation and alteration of the results of the Lagos council polls by the state electoral body.Rejecting the results as announced by the chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Abdul-Fatai Adeyinka, the party chieftains described the results as 'a rape on the nation's democratic rule,' vowing to challenge it at the court of law.Describing the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and its national leader, Chief Bola Tinubu, as wandering travellers, Chief George said the party would not allow its mandate to be cheaply murdered, adding that 'we will not allow them to take our mandate because it's our birthright.'In his address, Kosho-edo faulted the alleged alteration of the election results by LASIEC, describing it as ridicule of democracy.The state chairman said the PDP won the election in some local government areas of the state, contrary to the results released by the state electoral body, which he declared as daylight robbery.He berated Governor Babatunde Fashola for swearing-in the council chairmen.
