Igbo in Lagos celebrates yam festival

All is now set for this year's yam festival by Igbo community in Lagos.The festival is billed to hold on November 5 at Community Centre at Okota, in Oshodi Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos state.The celebration would afford different Igbo cultural groups in the state to showcase their cultural heritage.The president of the Igbo community in Lagos, Chief Christian Nwachukwu, explained that the governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, is expected as the special guest of honour.Yam festival is the hallmark of Igbo cultural heritage.All Igbo sons and daughters always look forward to the yam festival because of the importance attached to it.Apart from the cultural importance, it will also afforded the people the opportunity to take stock of the past and plan for the future.
