PDP will reclaim Kogi, says chieftain

By James Azania, LokojaFollowing series of defeats suffered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, a chieftain of the main opposition party in the state, Prince Benson Omofe has reassured that it will bounce back.The former ruling party lost in the November 16, 2019 state governorship election and the Kogi West Senatorial district rerun.Omofe, who is the PDP Vice Chairman for Kogi West, yesterday in Lokoja, during the executive members meeting, said it is restrategizing for future polls, beginning with the scheduled December 12, 2020 LG elections in the state.Omofe who replaces the late party vice chairman for the zone, Taiwo Kola-Ojo, who died early this year, said that the PDP has put in place strategies to reclaim lost grounds.Read Also:UPDATED: PDP Reps sue Mohammed, AGF, NBC over broadcasting codeIt is unfortunate that we lost the last governorship election, along with the senatorial district rerun to the rigging power of APC.Though we challenged both in court, but our judiciary being what they are affirmed the election that witnessed the most physical and scientific rigging in the history of election in the state.However, we are focused on subsequent elections. We are restrategizing for the next stage, starting from the council election that the state electoral body just released the date. We are not losing hope, because it isnt that the party did not perform up to the expectation of its supporters, he stated.He said that the party has begun the journey for the true reconciliation of aggrieved party members who fell out of the party due to positions.He called on all members to join hands with the leadership of the party towards building a more united front that will reclaim the state and other areas, saying Kogi remains a PDP state.
