Police invade Glass House

Published by Tribune on Fri, 04 Nov 2011

MEMBERS of the National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF) yesterday unsheathed their swords as they confronted the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with allegation of forgery at the Force headquarters in Abuja.Based on the allegation of forgery in a petition filed by the National Association of Nigerian Footballers against the NFF dated October 15, 2011 and written to the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Hafiz Ringim, the police had besieged the NFF glass house yesterday for clarification on the issue. The NANF allegations claimed among others that the NFF forged documents in a court case against them. They equally claimed that the NFF forged a letter of congratulation from FIFA president, Joseph Sepp Blatter to deceive the sporting populace that FIFA has confered recognition on them. However, after deep probing, the Nigeria Police released the NFF chieftains.Responding, the NFF image maker, Ademola Olajire, denied the siege on the glass house or the arrest of its executive members.Speaking with Tribunesports from Abuja yesterday, Olajire said although members of the executive board were invited to the Force Headquarters, he maintained the NANF claims were spurious.'Their allegations were spurious and unfounded. How could the NFF have forged a congratulations letter sent to Maigari by Blatter last year September. The police were even shocked at this lie. But there is nothing to worry about,' he said.
