Task force arrests gun makers in Jos

The Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State yesterday paraded five suspects in connection with gun fabrication in Jos.Desmond Maje, Monday Musa, Tutu Daniel, Gideon Shilling and Gotong Jacob were arrested on Wednesday by members of the special task force.According to the Media/Information Officer of the STF, Captain Charles Ekeocha, Mr. Desmond Maje from Congo Russia was arrested at Lamingo check point in possession of the locally fabricated revolver.'On interrogation he claimed it was given to him by one Chuwang Dung of Katon Rikkos for repairs,' the media officer said.'The house of Chuwang was searched and the search yielded more locally made guns, bow and arrows under his bed. Further confession led to the arrest of more suspects, including Mr. Monday Musa, Tutu Daniel, Gideon Shilling and Gotong Jacob,' Ekeocha said.He added that the suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation.Early last year, a gun manufacturing outfit was also discovered at Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area when members of the Nigeria Police were pursuing a murder case in the area. Some suspects were arrested.Meanwhile, the STF has also paraded 11 suspects in connection with Indian hemp trade alongside their lady kingpin in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.According to Ekeocha 'these people were arrested at Binchin in Bassa Local Government Area at about 10:30pm yesterday (Wednesday) with a sack of Indian hemp and other substances. The front person is Victoria Usman'.He added that the ring leader (Victoria) has been into drugs for seven years where she started the trade 'two months after meeting her boy friend, Angel Robinson (still at large). Robinson supplies the drugs to her to sell.'He added that 10 other suspects were also arrested who were caught in the act among them 'students, mechanics, farmers and Okada riders'.Our correspondent further reports that after parading the Indian hemp suspects, they were later handed over to the officers of the National Drug Law Enforceemnt Agency (NDLEA) by the STF.
