Former Heartland coach Kelechi Emeteole says he is still being owed by his club, more than a year after being kicked out.Emeteoles appointment was terminated in 2010 after losing that seasons final of the CAF Champions League to Congolese club TP Mazembe. The coach said all attempts to make Heartland pay the money had yielded no result.I left Heartland in 2010 with the hope that the club would honour our agreement by paying what they owe me. But after more than one year, I am yet to receive the money, he said.I did well as the club coach by leading them to Champions League final and finishing second in the Premier League, but they thought I have not done enough and asked me to go. I am now at home and the money will serve good purpose if paid.Heartland General Manager, Fan Ndubuoke, did not confirm the coachs claim to our correspondent, although he said the club had some debts to settle.I cannot confirm to you that Heartland owes Emeteole as an individual. We have a figure that represents how much we want to pay and we have appealed to the government of Imo State to come to our aid. This club is financed by the government and I am sure that it is aware of our financial situation, said Ndubuoke. He added that he was aware that some coaches and players who are no longer with the club had money to receive.I only joined this club 11 months ago and I have ensured that players and coaches are not owed. If you check the records of clubs in Nigeria, you will realise that all of them have debts to pay. We appreciate Emeteoles achievement in Heartland and wish him the best in the future. Heartland have no intention of making life difficult for the staff and we shall always do our best to make the fans happy by protecting the image of the club.Emeteole is yet to be employed by a club but he says this is not because there are no clubs who want his services.I have lost confidence in the Nigerian league and that is why I am yet to accept any coaching job after leaving Heartland, he explained. Before I can pick any job now, I must get the assurance from the club owners. I did well in Heartland but they still terminated my appointment. That is not the best way to develop a club. I have good records in the Nigerian League and that is why many clubs are looking for me now.I want to know what type of result my next club wants. Some clubs want to just keep competing in the league with no clear-cut vision while some are after result. Each of these has its own price. I am not desperate for a job and I want things to be done properly. There are so many Nigerian coaches who take any job just because they want to earn money, I am not one of them. The coach blames club administrators for the problems of the Nigerian football, saying they are the major factor why Nigeria no longer produces great players. There is no discipline in the Nigeria Premier League because the club owners do not respect the players and the coaches. That is why we are no longer producing good players. Good players are born in an environment where things work properly. We played the qualifier of African Nations Championship and failed. This is a competition meant for players who play in their countries. It simply means that we do not have good players coming out of the league.
