Heartland Players Grumble Despite Receiving N1millionWITH two games to end the season, the management of Warri Wolves Football Club is still hopeful of grabbing a continental ticket as pay back for the government and people of the state for their support.Wolves fought a great battle last Wednesday by coming from a goal down to beat visiting Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Warri Township Stadium, a victory that took the team to 62 points.Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, a member of the team's management and former international, Edema Fuludu, said that Wolves had worked hard enough to deserve a continental ticket this season, saying: 'To whom much is given much is expected. Our Governor (Emmanuel Uduaghan) has done so much for the club in terms of financial and moral support this season and it will be a thing of joy for Warri Wolves to crown his effort with a continental ticket.'To be frank and sincere, Warri Wolves remain one of the best funded clubs in the country at the moment and it goes to show that we have a governor who is sports-loving and caring. The season is coming to an end and you can see that players of some clubs are embarking on strike over unpaid sign-on fees and salaries. We may have some short comings, but to be sincere, the governor has done so much for the club and it will be good to pay him back with a continental ticket.'Warri Wolves has another home game against Gombe United on Wednesday and Fuludu says it is a tie they have to win to be in contention for a CAF Confederation Cup next season. He said: 'We are taking the matches as they come and as you can see on the league table, Kano Pillars and Rangers are a big threat to our continental ambition. We are preparing hard for Gombe United before taking the last battle Minna against Niger Tornadoes.Meanwhile, players of Heartland FC of Owerri yesterday received the one million Naira-a-man promised them for winning this year's Nigeria Federation Cup, but still demanded for the balance of their sign-on fees.Skipper Chinedu Efugh told MTNFootball.com that they have received their cheques to that effect, but are still waiting for the balance payment of their sign-on fees for this season.
