Blasts Hit JTF's Headquarters, Kill Bombers , Injure Others

AGAIN, an orgy of violence yesterday swept across Maiduguri metropolis as three suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers in a black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), around 1.20pm, bombed the Joint Task Force (JTF) Headquarters in Pompomari ward of the city, destroying part of the buildings.Also, at about 1.30pm, two other blasts went off simultaneously on Baga road and at the State Security Services (SSS) headquarters in Bulunkutu ward, injuring a soldier and six civilians near the El-Kanemi Theological College, Maiduguri.However, nemesis caught up with the bombers as they were killed by the explosives after they failed to gain entry into the military installations in Pompomari ward.Speaking on the blasts, the JTF spokesman, Lt. Col. Hassan Mohammed said 'the suicide bombers were unable to enter the headquarters, but they were able to detonate the explosives inside their black SUV outside the gate, damaging parts of our military buildings.'Mohammed who linked the attack to the Boko Haram sect said no soldier was killed in the attack.However, the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) authorities told The Guardian that a soldier was severely wounded when he was brought into the Emergency and Accident unit of the hospital around 2pm..Also, State Police Commissioner, Mr. Simeon Midenda, confirmed the incident, stating that some people were injured in the blast.
