Airtel lowers international rates for prepaid subscribers

Published by Punch on Sun, 06 Nov 2011

Airtel has announced the reduction of tariffs for its prepaid subscribers calling the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, China and India. A statement issued by Chief Operating Officer of the company; Mr. Deepak Srivastava, says the network customers can call any of the international destinations for as low as N8.33 per minute. He said the offer was designed to help its prepaid customers across the country increase their talk time with family, friends and business partners who are in important and popular destinations at reduced and affordable rates. The International call bundle offer is structured into three categories: N500, N200 and N100. It is applicable only to pre-paid customers on the Airtel network, he added. Srivastava said the companys decision to lower call rates to the selected locations to N8.33 per minute had removed any barrier that is capable of hindering any of its customers from making important calls to the designated destinations. He said, "Our unwavering commitment to give Nigerians affordable and innovative products and services has kept us firmly on toes since the Airtel brand was introduced into Nigeria. "We are constantly injecting fresh thinking into our operation to enable us innovate and deliver more value and satisfaction to our customers even as we embark on the journey to become the most loved brand in Nigeria." According to him, pre-paid customers who purchase the N500 bundle will have a 60-minute talk-time at N8:33/minute. The N200 bundle guarantees N10 per minute or 20 minutes call time, while the N100 bundle provides Airtel customers, N10 per minute for 10 minutes.
