As a retired head mistress, Mrs Juiana Oyewande Oyeyinka, left her home for the Federal Secretariat, in Oyo State for the Pensioners Verification exercise.Unknown to the 75-year old, the trip was one that would still not end with her return home, 25 days after. It was gathered that Mrs. Oyeyinka, who also is suffering from arthritis, had left her Balogun Amosu home, off Alakia Isebo Road in Ibadan, Oyo State on October 9, 2011. The journey started at about 11am in company of her daughter. Because of the long queue that day, the verification exercise could not get to her turn until about four hours later.According to the daughter,Yemi, after a long wait the old woman was asked to come forward to fill her form, but she was not with a certain document that was requested.Consequently, the daughter left the 75-year-old Oyeyinka in the custody of another pensioner while she headed home to fetch the document that was requested. The daughter told Sunday Compass, 'The lady in question assured me she was going to look after my mother when I was leaving.' Perhaps, Madam Oyeyinka had a premonition of what was to happen as she was said to have insisted on following her daughter, but the strange woman reportedly gave firm pledges that she would look after her.Yemi said: 'I was reluctant to leave my mother in her care but she offered to look after her. I never knew her from anywhere. But I noticed she was somehow close to my mother all through. 'Honestly, I wanted to go with my mother to get the form. If only I knew the woman had a sinister objective.'According to the daughter, after returning from home to fetch the document, she discovered with dismay that her mother's sitting position was empty. She asked those around if they knew where the elderly woman was, but no one had any information.'When I came back and did not see my mother, I looked around for the strange woman but did not see her either. I thought probably my mum went to ease herself and the stranger could have taken her for it. I went round the premises in search of them but did not see any of them.'I also went to the gateman to ask if he saw my mother leaving and he said no. I immediately went to the police to report. 'Consequently, some policemen came with me and together we searched round for my mum but yet did not see her. I was then asked to go home and wait for 24 hours before making an official complaint. That I did, hoping that my mum would come home, but I have not seen her since then.'It has been 25 days since the dark completioned septuagenarian, who retired from active service in 1991, disappeared with the mystery woman without any trace.Whether or not the septuagenarian was kidnapped still remains a puzzle. Sunday Compass gathered that the slim elderly woman, of average height, did not go to the secretariat with her phone, and this may have made it difficult for her suspected abductors to reach her devastated children. The family has therefore urged the Oyo State government in particular and Nigerians in general to help them with possible information that could lead to the discovery of their mother. The family who expressed concern over Mrs Oyeyinka's health passionately begged anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the aged woman to reach them or contact the nearest police station.
